Reflecting on the day:

An informative workshop for basics in coding. Me and Callum (my flatmate/fellow student) collaborated on this particular workshop, which accounts for the more informal language and slightly vulgar messages you'll see below (apologies in advance). The generative text bot was really interesting to use, Jack asked us to come up with interesting sentences for the code to generate with. In trying to opt away from basic topics like colour and food, we went for recreational activities and 'future' predictions post covid, very tongue in cheek. With generators, they are always more interesting when humour is involved, due to the age range of the class, it felt acceptable to use more vulgar language. The task reminded me of a popular trend that circulates every so often on social media. In which, you use your birth date to 'generate' a superpower or a sentence thats often funny or weird. I put some below for reference.

The workshop was fun though I don't think very useful in terms of the project development, a rather rogue session. It's nice to mix it up though. Perhaps because I've already done a more intense workshop and this was more the extreme basics, it would be great to have a more informative session with Jack. I hope it inspired others on the course to look further into coding.
